The other day I was having lunch with a friend. She asked me, "So what do CPAs do after tax season?" I was surprised by her question, because as a professional with 25 years of experience, it never occurred to me that someone didn't know what else I did besides tax returns.
CPAs who work in public accounting do a variety of other things. Many also prepare financial statements, perform audits, provide valuation or forensic accounting, help clients start new businesses, provide accounting, part-time CFO, payroll and benefit services to small companies, serve as trustees or fiduciaries.
